Not much to do - shopping in the port is nice

It had a lot of history but we should have done an excursion to have more fun. We did the hop on/hop off, but it was too hot.

Do a private buggy ride from the port. Our very helpful driver took us all over Mazatlan for $20 each...4 of us and it lasted over 2 hours. We saw loads of stuff, took us shopping and was so helpful.

Mazatlan Mexico is very industrial however if you're willing to give it a chance it is rich in culture and beautiful and hidden treasures and art. My husband and I chose not to do excursions but Explorer Mazatlan Mexico and the area is given on our Princess Cruise itinerary in our mailbox. We felt that we had much more of a rich cultural experience doing so rather than on an Excursion for us at least. We hiked up to a lighthouse together and taxi over to the cathedral which was beyond beautiful. We then walk 5 blocks with backpacks to view beautiful brightly colored homes with Lush Gardens. We came across Mazatlan library with big full gold Lions outside which was a beautiful sight on our walk down to the beach. We came across Oceanside pools that we were able to enjoy at no cost and local traditional vendors with delicious eats. The people of Mazatlan Mexico were very helpful with my broken Spanish and my husband's learning Spanish they are appreciated our effort I were so sweet with any direction or question that we asked.

You walk off the ship but take a trolly off the port. We walked some of the town then took a taxi. I loved being able to see what the town was like. They are working on a big part. We went to the golden zone which had tons of shopping. Nice jewelry and other stuff. You can get to the beach from there also. They are really into trying to sell you stuff. Kind of aggresive on the beach. I went to a place called Seashell City . Lots of shells and other items you can buy for cheap. They take cash but hand back pesos.

The dock was nice, easy to get off of. The area that the little shops were in was the nicest and most pleasant. We did not go too far on this day since it was hot and we and we did not want to take a taxi not knowing exactly how much we were going to get charged.
