The taxi to the local town is only $1.50 , it's worth going there for the true Mexican town experience.

This port definitely a surprise, didn’t expect it to be so lovely. It is a beach resort, no need to take a tour, just bring bathing suit, towel and sunscreen and chill out on the beach. Lots of chairs and umbrellas available. Shops along the port.

Get a cab into the old town - about 10 minutes from the beach. Make sure you ask the driver the fare before you leave! Theres a lovely Mexican church with a beautiful painted interior which is most unusual. Also a lovely shaded square in the centre of the town. At the beach there are plenty of bars and cafe's also a selection of shops. I went back to the ship for lunch then back to the beach for a swim.

Excellent beach near by where ship is docked. Took Land and Sea excursion to see some other beautiful beaches and rock formations. After catamaran sailing we drove in land to see the city. Nice, clean and very safe. Tourism is main business. Very hot and dry weather.

We so enjoyed the port itself, but especially the walk we took to town of La Crucecita from Las Cruces. We just enjoyed the whole area; a lunch at a cafe next to the old town center square was especially nice. It was nice because there was no, or very little pressure, from the sidewalk vendors. Nice people willing to show us and talk to us about the town.

We hung out at the beach with our ship in the background. We rented a jet ski and rode all over and around our docked ship. Lots of shopping at local flea market. Another good day.

Huatulco: took the “Land and Sea” tour offered by the ship, the land part was poor but the sea part was good. It has been decided by the local government to develop this area into a tourist destination with 70% to be left untouched by “human hand”. According to our guide on the sea portion of our tour, the tourist dollars have given them many schools before the university level (which were lacking), two universities, several exclusive hotels, a hospital and two international airports. He thinks most of the citizens are happy with these changes.

Took a cruise on a catamaran and stopped to swim. Very refreshing and enjoyable. Drinks were provided. Looked like a lot of shopping nearby, restaurants and even a small beach right by the ship.
