Although i rate the prt as poor.It is hot and poorly organozed. Theya re in the process of building it up I think. I do however highly recommend going out and taking some excursions. We took a 45 minute cab ride to Yalku Lagoon in Akumal Bay . excellent snorkeling in calm waters. This private park has lovely stateus thrououth the park. Beautiful! Our next trip after meeeting a guide there, we plan to snorkel at dos ojos. If possible make prearrangements for a cab as there is little in calica port.

Playa del Carmen was the closest destination that made sense with the time given. Carlos and Charlies is a fun interactive bar, a must stop by. Senor Frogs had the coolest swinging lifeboat bar chairs. Also the town is adorable and the beach is absolutely gorgeous.

This port offered nice beach, availability to see Mayan ruins, Playa del Carmen, etc. with enough time to enjoy an afternoon in the sun and then a little nighttime partying as well before having to be back to the ship. I loved stopping in Calica - I wish we had even more time to spend there. Perhaps offering scuba diving as an excursion for those of us who love to dive.

The excursion that takes you to the Mayan ruins of Tulum and Xel Ha was a winner! It was a steal for all the beauty that you witness in a 7or 8 hour period. Our guide Tito was informative and also very entertaining.

Booked Cancun shopping and beach through Carnival. Dropped at a flea market for over an hour and couldn't really enjoy shopping because you are hassled to death and then once in Cancun they recommend the restaurant and it took a LONG time to get food so you're left with a few minutes to walk down and check out the beach. It was an hour and a half drive each way from the ship and at the end the asking for gratuity was awkward at best. We have always tipped out host but never had them be so blatant and pushy about it.
