Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

Older ship but had no major issues. Made it to both ports. Rocky waters at times but no more than have experienced in the past.

Pros: Being on vacation

Cons: Exursion booked through Carnival, Musical shows were leaving more to be desired and although there is tons of food it is nothing extraordinary. Ship is older and the only real cleanliness problem we had was that they could have used some mold, mildew remover in our shower and toilet paper is cheap

Recommends Carnival Elation? Yes!

Ship Quality
One of the dining rooms was no easily accessible but other than that pretty well marked and directions on every elavator.
Food and Dining
The formal dining was great because service was pretty phenomenal. Food was not bad at all just not fantastic.
Cabin / Stateroom
With exception of bathroom the room is a little tight when you have a queen bed put together from two twins because someone has to crawl over to get out of the bed. This trip was a noisy one due to kids and other guests. Lots of door slamming and running down the corridors.
Revue shows were weak but comedy was pretty decent. There are lots of activities ranging from hairy chest to master mixologist contest and I saw kids everyday involved in activities.
Service and Staff
Cruise ship staff was pretty phenomenal. Definitely there to please.
Children's Programs
Don't have kids but from what I observed there was a decent selection and kids were involved in their own activities.
Calica, Mexico
Booked Cancun shopping and beach through Carnival. Dropped at a flea market for over an hour and couldn't really enjoy shopping because you are hassled to death and then once in Cancun they recommend the restaurant and it took a LONG time to get food so you're left with a few minutes to walk down and check out the beach. It was an hour and a half drive each way from the ship and at the end the asking for gratuity was awkward at best. We have always tipped out host but never had them be so blatant and pushy about it.
Don't Miss: Just be sure to find out clear details about how much time is spent driving, being dropped for shopping and etc. We would have rather just went to a closer beach and enjoyed ourselves more.
Cozumel, Mexico
Booked Jeep and Passion Island excursion through Cruises Only. Pretty great day as the beach is private and the jeep ride through town is great. They offer a buffet and open bar, hammocks, water trampoline and it is just beautiful. Plus they did not drop you off at a flea market to be hassled.
Don't Miss: Passion Island or just renting a jeep is only $55 and a great deal to be able to sight see all day.
