With the Day and Time change we were only able to do Wailua River Cruse and Fer Grotto, as the Grand Canyon was Full. Our excursion I would give a 3, but the Island itself was Beautiful, and would have loved the 8 Hour Excursion that would have included much more.

Again, LAME, not a nice area, NOTHING even remotely worth seeing within walking, jogging distance, etc. Only way to see anything is to take an excursion

We did the tubing with Kauai Back Country Adventures. What a blast! John from Kauai Island Shuttle took us to the tubing place, then picked us up and took us on a tour of the North Shore. The next day, he took us out to Waimea Canyon and other sites on that side. He accomodated what we wanted to see, it was just us, and the two days cost slightly less than what taking the two excursions through NCL would have cost.

Wonderful time. Did the Luau day one. I have to say the cruise line has some work to do to get people back to the ship sooner after the show is over. It felt like a money issue. Either you don't want to spend the money on more busses going back or you are trying to pack too many people into the show. Either way the show suffered because of this. Day two we did the helicopter tour which was excellent. There was a problem with the microphone that interrupted the music that was played but everything else about the tour was amazing.

The most beautiful and untouched of the islands that we visited and definetly a must see. We rented a car and drove around the island. It is very easy to navigate the island because there are no highways and only a few major roads. If you do decide to rent a car reserve it on the ship way ahead of time. Many people were not able to rent a car because all of the major car rental places were sold out. So, plan this island ahead of time and know what you want to do. Waimea Canyon is called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It is a spectacular sight that you must see. Beautiful with lush valleys and waterfalls. We also saw a few waterfalls on the east side of the island (Wailua, and Opaeka'a Falls). The second day we went on the Tree Top Zipline Tour. This was great we were swaying in the pine trees about 60-70 ft in the air for 3-4 hours. The zip line was quite a rush and very safe. The scenic viewing of the Napoli Coast is a must see after the ship leaves Kauai.
