We arrived two days prior to sailing, so our Oahu experience had nothing to do with the cruise, except, we ended up with an extra day there, due to the volcano, which was a waste for us.

We stayed at the Hilton Resorts and they were good. We did a private tour for an excursion and that was the best way to see the island.

Flew in a day before the cruise and took in a luau. Ate breakfast at Dukes Canoe Club and walked back up the beach to our hotel. Not enough time to really see too much but everything we did was within walking distance of our hotel.

Not enough time there would recommend going a day early to explore.

We definitely preferred our stay on the north shore to busy Waikiki.

We were in Honolulu on a Sunday. Not a good idea. Many places were closed. We did go to a luau and that was fun, although we would not do it again because it was too crowded. When we go back to Honolulu, we will make sure it is not on a Sunday.
