We were in Venice overnight on the last day of first of our B2Bs. We walked from the ship docked at Marittimato pier to the People Mover station. There was a long line of people waiting to buy tickets for about $2. We didn’t bother to use it as it wasn’t much longer of a walk into Venice and we probably got there faster than people at the end of the line (and we saved $4). Once there, we each bought a pricey 24-hour vaporetto pass for 20 Euro (about $23) and went to Murano and Burano. Note that it took about three hours for that route so you need to allow enough time (especially if some of the vaporettos are so packed, you’d have to wait for the next one to arrive). The following day, we continued to use the same pass to go St. Marks. We had the typical Venetian experience as we wandered around getting lost until we found the train station. We then took our last boat ride and returned to the ship in plenty of time for the start of the second of our B2B cruises.

Went to Murano and Burano. Lovely tour. Glass works down for holidays, but there was a demonstation. Good timing as we walked to the Guggenheim and back to the ship and saw lots of Venice. St Marks Square all shrouded for construction and "Sting" concert.. Thank goodness we had been before. Probably wn't tour again in the summer.

Venice is unique in the world, & it in itself is a must see, but is very expensive. I would avoid the restaurants on the walk by the Rialto bridge,and instead go a block or two off. Great food at reasonable prices there. However, if you can go in at night, go. It is so different and so much more interesting and romantic. Finally, the Venice Airport is a nightmare if you are disembarking and going to the airport along with a 2500 person cruise ship, as we did. I would not disembark from a cruise in Venice again, as it is a very difficult place to deal with all the luggage you take on a cruise.

Great unique city with the best shopping and food. Be careful- St Marks square is under water for 2 hours a day. Need boits. You can buy them there for 10 euro

Depending on what day you are there, this may or may not apply. We were in Venice on Friday and Saturday. My advice is if you are going on these same days then book your tour on Saturday. We did the Secrets of Venice on Friday. A walking tour. Not great but we liked it because we like to learn about what we're looking out. We left the tour about 5 p.m. and tooled around on our own. St Marks's/Shopping etc. We ate at one of the squares. Food in Venice is....well it's just food. Stay out Friday night, do your shopping and exploring then. Why? On Saturday it was crowded, crowded, crowded. Not for us as we did the Murano/St. George/ Gondola ride tour. It was alot of fun. If you take a gondola ride as part of a tour it's ok. But I wouldn't do one on my own. Too expensive, too short, and not worth the money.

Venice: Romantic, but expensive. Buy a vaporetto pass and validate it before riding. Visit Venice, stay and eat on the Lido.
