Venice is amazing but this time we spent more time on the island if Murano, what a beautiful place this is and would like to spend more time there on my next visit. We always use the hop on, hop off water boats too as they are great value for money. Look round for a good price on Gondola rides, you will find some that do them for 2 people for 80€ so makes it a bit more special for just the two of you.

Venice Italy is one of the most unique places I have traveled to. Not sure it’s possible to see it all. The food is awesome, try to find restaurants on side alleys that are not in the main walking areas. Those were our best meals by far, much better tasting, authentic, and reasonable priced. Make sure to walk as much as possible, and if there in the summer stay hydrated! Don’t be scared to refill your water at one of the many water fountain statues throughout the city. We stayed at the Hilton Molina Stuky before and after the cruise and we highly recommend it. Beautiful hotel, rooms and Ammenties. It also has a free Ferry that runs back and forth from San Marco all day and night.

We spent a few days here before and after the cruise to explore. It's a great idea just to wander around and explore at your own pace. There were a few things on our bucket list we checked off like a gondola ride and taking selfies with the birds in Piazza San Marco

You MUST do the nighttime tour of St Mark's! It was AMAZING! We spent three days roaming around venice on our own after the cruise. Highly encouraged you to just still through the streets. Almost impossible to get lost so enjoy getting off the main walkways and really seeing Venice.

We visited Venice in September and had the luxury of staying overnight in port. Unfortunately we had 9 cruise liners sharing the port with us. Venice was manic and it was impossible to see much without annoying the constant stream of tourists in the narrow lanes. We visited the Doges Palace (prepay skip the line if you can) then made our way over to lovely Burano with its pretty painted houses, lovely linen and lace and even better .... cafes without the crowds. We spent our evening in one of the cafes in St Marks Square, paid 18 euros each for a Campari Spritzer and nibbles - the soft lights on the church, moon rise over the Square plus the dualing orchestra experience was priceless. Everyone should visit Venice at least once in their lives. ❤️

We booked a 14 day cruise out of Venice seven days to the Mediterranean back to Venice and then seven days in the Adriatic this cruise was amazing. We stayed two nights on the grand Canal prior to the cruise and then one night on our return prior to flying home.

Venice was a bit of a culture shock getting into port and not knowing how to get anywhere else. Multiple ships of people trying to ask questions and figure out if they should take a water taxi, water bus (private/public) or walk. We ended up walking after that debacle. Luggage in hand/on back, that made it not so fun. A friend of ours had a hotelfor the night so we were allowed to leave our luggage there. It was there when we got back, thank goodness. Luggage weight removed, we ventured out on foot. After a while, after walking so many ports prior, we found our poor legs/feet were over walking, but you have to walk if you are in the part of Venice with no cars, just water taxis/buses. We ate lunch, toured the Murano Glass factory on the island of Murano (water taxi there and back) then later flew out of Venice back to Barcelona, staying the night there and then back to the US. So glad we chose to wait until the end of the day to fly out, Venice was beautiful.
