The pier is far from the city and required a 5 euro shuttle to get into town. We also did not have much time in port, so we stayed on the ship.

We did a celebrity excursion to the San Joseph caves and tour to old town Valencia. It was not worth the cost. It took 45 min to go to the cave. The cave was nice but beware there is no English speaking tour guide available. Once we were done with the caves we were rushed back to the bus to head into old town. Didn’t have time to go to the bathroom or grab water for the road. Another hour drive back to Valencia. The tour guide, once we got off the bus, advised us she was taking us into the town square and follow closely. She was a speed walker. Left some of the group behind with no care at all. Once we made it to the destination she told everyone we had 15 min to look around take pictures then back to the bus. Barely time to purchase water. We meet our tour mates and one woman was hit by a car while coming back to the group. Our tour guide did nothing just started back to the bus. Luckily the woman was only bumped due to a car backing up. We left for our tour at 9:20 am and were back by 1:45. The tour was listed as a 4 hr 45 min tour but did not note you’d be on the bus for a 2 1/2 hrs. It was advertised as: “Following your 45-minute cave tour, you'll get a walking tour of Valencia's most prominent landmarks.” The tour was not what you expected. The walking part of the tour was 30 minutes walking, at a brisk pace to the center and 15 minutes to look at some historical buildings with no reference to why or what they were. I would have paid 30 euro for a taxi to take me into town and back for a leisurely afternoon then the 180 it cost in US dollars for this stressful and frustrating event.

Weather finally picked up, and we had a nice walk around the old city, but again, we have visited Valencia before.

A very, very industrial port. The view from our balcony was of a couple dozen burned-up vehicles sitting alongside the ship awaiting their crushing demise. A total dump of a port, but the city (far away) was nice. None of the excursions were appealing so we paid the $15 to get a shuttle to town, visited a a lovely church, climbed the tower, and bought some souvenirs. Pretty city, far from the horrible port.
