We stayed in Venice, even though we had been multiple times. Venice was fantastic and expensive. Trieste didn't look very interesting from our transfer bus.

A mini version of Venice but less crowded and with cheaper prices. It felt very authentic. A level 5 minute walk from the cruise terminal. The architecture is stunning. A bottle of water only cost €1 and an icecream cone €1.50 in the local Spar store. The Roman theatre which although not complete was atmospheric despite its location.

Easily walkable into town with some very expensive shops. The local authorities could have been better at directing us from the ship - we just followed those walking off, and found some free wifi just over the road, but as it was a bit wet, didn't really see the best of this port.

I had never heard of Trieste, Italy but is absolutely beautiful. We went to Miramare Castle and that was lovely but the views from the castle property were breathtaking.

Cruise port right in centre of the city - 2 minute walk. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants, well worth visiting.
