MUST VISIT POMPEII! Although it was drizzling rain, still worth the visit. We used the audio necklaces instead of a live tour guide to economize. Audio content was good but difficult to match up locations on their map. Audio guide 8 euro each, entrance to Pompeii, 16 euro each.

We had booked a cruise ship excursion to Capri that was cancelled due to lack of enough English-speaking people signing up for the excursion (just keep this possibility in mind when you go). We are do-it-yourselfers so we figured we would just take the ferry across the bay to Capri and do it on our own, but the weather was too bad (too windy) for the ferries to run, so at the end of the day no one on the cruise ship got to Capri. As an alternative, we hired a taxi driver outside the port for 100 euros to take us to Pompeii and then travel around the city. I had seen Pompeii before, but was the first for my boyfriend. My advice is to try to book this tour with a guide because you get so much more out of the adventure.

Star value not for Naples but for the tour of the Amalfi coast, highly recommend! Stopped in Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, great experience with amazing views, and beautiful little spots. Can’t imagine being there at at the height of the summer though, was crowded in late October, weather was still great! On our way back to Rome the captain thrilled us by slowing down at night to witness the Stromboli volcano erupting, quite a site!

Really not much to see and roads are terrible. Drivers seem to use their horns as much as their brakes. And their "world renowned" pizza was disappointingly flaccid.
