The recommended Tauk Tauk tour was great. Those hybrid motorcycle/golf cart was perfect for getting around and getting into and out of the tourist sites. Peter and Stephen, the Viking representatives at the NY Palace hotel did a great job.

Beautiful city! If you are able, extend a few days here. We did the walking tour and then walked more on our own after the tour was over. The Illumination Cruise in the evening is not to be missed. It is even more beautiful than the pictures.

Yes, we thoroughly enjoyed Budapest. We did the optional walking tour and had a terrific guide. The afternoon I had purchased tickets through Viator for the Gellert Bath House and it was amazing. We enjoyed that experience. And the ease of getting there with the No. 2 tram right outside the ship's port was so convenient. Although the woman at the Viking desk at the time did not give us accurate info on the transportation to the bath house. We found the correct info from our walking tour guide. She seemed to push the taxi option and also seemed to be in a rush to push us out of the way. Other than that, we enjoyed our time in the Budapest port. Point of info...I was in Budapest many years ago while it was under Communist occupation and very depressing; I was so very happy to see a different Budapest thriving with happy, friendly people.

We were surprised by the use of English in most places. We always try to learn a few key phrases and words (please and thanks and also hello/goodbye) but Hungarian was a challenge for us. We were able to navigate the city on our own and never felt uncomfortable.

I wish I’d spent my whole holiday in Budapest. It is a lovely walkable city. The included tour was informative, but once again, lots of time on a bus from the ship and then around the city. I stayed on for two days and I’m so glad that I didn’t do the extension and made my own arrangements.
