If you want to just go into town you should take the shuttle (but at 8 euros each way) or a cab (7 euros) as walking is doable but not encouraged.

Three hours to Paris. We took a limo. Shore excursions are very expensive and for a family of five or six it can be costly to see some of the sites.

Grey and wet and cold. This port had personal significance for many on board as they revisited war time memories. I chose to explore on my own which may have been a mistake as the weather did not cooperate.

No excursion, just took the shuttle and walked the town with stops at the bakery for pastries and lunch by the waterway in the park. Thoroughly enjoyable!
