Port is "container city" but short complimentary shuttle bus goes to the entrance which is an pleasant walk into town.

We did and excursion to Portovenere and Cinque Terre. Loved Portovenere. We also love Cinque Terre but we have been there before and stayed there. If we went again would arrange a different excursion. We were fortunate to be able to do a cruise through Cinque Terre but it was a public boat and we were packed in like sardines on that boat. This made it uncomfortable for some and difficult to see which is the point.

Pisa tour and Tuscany wine tasting. Both were fun but again a lot of time spent in the bus.

I would prefer to be in Livorno. It is closer to Florence and Pizza.
