Excellent overnight stay in St Petersburg. We did an organised excursion through Royal Caribbean. This was excellent. Uneventful transition through passport control. It is really worth going to see the diversity in the city!

Did not think much of the "Easy St Petersburg" excursion but loved the "Evening of Russian Ballet" and "Hermitage Museum & St Petersburg On Your Own", wish I would have done the "Bon Appetit Recommended: Roots of Russia"

St Petersburg was beautiful and I would go back. 2 days jam packed of things to see. Still didn't see everything.

Be prepared for long waits at the Hermitage (and VERY crowded conditions!). Don't miss Peterhof - it was optional but a highlight of my trip

St Petersburg - RedSun Tours - Book with Elena you won't regret it. Elena (guide and owner) worked with us via email, prior to our trip, to design the private tour we wanted. Elena and Anastasia (driver) were friendly and spoke excellent English. The van was large, comfortable and clean. Elena arranged for the tour tickets and Russia visa in advance and gave us clear instructions where to meet her on arrival. We didn't have to pay anything until the day of the tour. She was on time, waiting for us (holding a sign with our name on it). Elena took us to some very nice local shops that had a wide range of prices for souvenirs, stops by the Neva river, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and a few other places so we could take pictures. We wanted to go for a Traditional Russian lunch (our cost); Elena took us to the Terrassa restaurant, In the afternoon, we visited Catherine's Palace; Elena did a good job of getting us into the sites before large tour groups arrived. Private tours are worth the money; we (4) paid $240 USD each, which included all entrances and the visa. We would highly recommend RedSun Tours for the personal/professional service Elena provides.

This is a vast city to explore and one that you shouldn't do unless on an organised excursion. Russian immigration can be quite intimidating when disembarking/embarking each day but they are only doing their job. Traffic congestion in the city has to be seen to be believed so be patient when travelling between sites of interest as it often takes longer to drive than it would to walk! Out of all of the amazing places visited in St Petersburg the only one that I would not go back to is The Hermitage Museum. Unless you're there first thing in the morning the crowds are awful. There is no restriction in the number of visitors allowed in, no designated walking route through the museum, it's a free for all! Even I felt uncomfortable with the volume of people in here and couldn't wait to get out.

Loved it! Went to Catharina Palace and Hermitage. Expect lots of tourists. Must book a guided tour. It is very beautiful. You really need at least two days.
