Review summary

Highly recommend this cruise. It was my first time on Viking, and I was very impressed. The ship was lovely, the food was good, and the tours and lectures were excellent and informative - particularly enjoyed the interactions with the Viking guides, as well as with fellow passengers - it was easy to meet people at meals and during excursions and share travel stories. I learned a lot about Russia, and have come away with a new perspective. Viking also throws in some "surprises" that were very enjoyable (e.g. a short concert or show). I will definitely cruise on Viking again.

Be prepared for long waits at the Hermitage (and VERY crowded conditions!). Don't miss Peterhof - it was optional but a highlight of my trip

Unfortunately did not make it to Kizhi - not Viking's fault, but spring was unusually cold and the lake was iced over - too dangerous to go to Kizhi. Viking made it up to us by adding a complimentary night tour of Moscow

Beautiful town. If you have a chance to see the Governor's House, I would recommend, mainly for the "surprise" entertainment. Otherwise just walk around the town and enjoy the gardens

Loved Moscow! City walking tour and Kremlin tour both excellent - and being able to attend the ballet at the Bolshoi the last evening was the icing on the cake

We have been on 8 river cruises so far and have the next 3 planned, but now I think we need to add a river cruise in Russia! Thanks for the review!
