we visted gullfoss falls. a must see. also the strokkur geyser was excellent. thingvellier national park was ok. heard the blue lagoon was also great but we did not have time to do all. we rented a taxi at the port. it was only $450.00 for 4 of us. so it was not too expensive and we could stop where ever we wanted.

Loved the blue lagoon, well worth a visit. Just avoid the shops as they are a bit pricey. The facilities are excellent and very clean and organised.:-)

Port is far from downtown. Cruise offered a shuttle to city centre but it was €23/per person. It only cost €20 by taxi one way. Was cheaper since there were 4 of us. Took a golden circle excursion off the ship. Only €65 versus th €189 MSC excursions was charging.

The terminal at Reykjavik is along way from town. A shuttle cost about $18 to get to town. Although we had time, we chose not to go into to town to explore due to the cost and the hassle. We did take a tour from the Cruise Terminal to the Golden Circle. This was another FAB Travel tour. The driver/guide was not as good as some others. The Golden Circle is a fantastic tour.

Every port was different in its own way. They were all very enjoyable. The excursions provided by Viking were more of an overview but well planned.
