We stayed close to the port and walked around Nynashamn. A cute little town within easy walking distance.

We really enjoyed the Vasa Museum which we did without a tour via the HOHO bus. The transportation getting back to the boat was a cluster but - that's the way it goes when you dock 40 mins from Stockholm

Got an all day travel ticket which I can recommend, we used the bus, tram and ferry on it

This comment is about Nynashamn only and not Stockholm. We had to tender in this port which took 1 hour 40 minutes of waiting time before being called. We then took a train in Stockholm which we thoroughly enjoyed, great food, wonderful city with friendly people. The cruise was not in port long enough to get a real experience of Stockholm. We were instructed by Captain and crew to make sure we returned in plenty of time to be tendered to the ship as it was implied that the VERY LAST tender would be leaving at 6:00 pm only to find the crew going back late passengers. Nynashamn the town is certainly not ready to take on large cruise ships. I always prided myself on being friendly and outgoing to everyone but we found service and facilities lacking in the area and would not recommend the Stockholm stop unless Princess docked in the actual port of Stockholm Harbour itself.

We loved the city. We visited the historic sailing ship, the Vasa, which sank in the harbor on it's inaugural voyage. We toured the city and the old town and had an excellent guide!

We use SPB again (the tour is Stockholm highlight and is also about US$90 per person). Since Nynashamn is about an hour from Stockholm, the organiser will bring a group of 20 people to a large bus like in Helsinki. The bus driver will pick up the local tour guide at Stockholm.

Shame its so far away from Stockholm. We walked to train station and took the train in. It takes an hour but worth it for a brief look at Stockholm. Its another nice city that we'll visit again.

This is an hour from Sweden but train station is 10min walk following a blue line from port. We took 5 min shuttle bus though, provided by cruise at small cost, then train to Stockholm City. So check train schedule online. Buy day card it's perfect-use on train, trams and ferries so easy to get around Stockholm ourselves. Get map at station or download before. Did Vasa museum, lunch at Gondolen, Gamla Stan (must), enjoyed fika, walked around City Hall. Only issue was train back to Nyshamn stopped running/was delayed- so almost stranded us!! but a group of us cruise goers found each other and somehow managed to get taxis back to port in time. Costly (not reimbursed by cruise) but it didn't ruin the trip, Stockholm was just SO pretty and we lucked out with nice weather.
