Wow! What a fortress Malta is! Our guide best described it a being a "War Machine". It is beautiful with fortifications everywhere. We toured with our guide, Vincent, which was arranged through Amy's Private Tours of Malta and Gozo. Our group of 8 was met at the arranged time and headed out to our first stop, Mdina. The oldest walled city/fort on Malta. Our guide was extremely knowlegegeable and gave us a wonderful walking tour. The tour then headed back to Valletta to tour that walled capital and visit the St. John's Cathedral. What a sight that was. Not to be missed. At the end of our tour, our guide instructed us on how to walk back to the ship and left us to shop and explore on our own. It was easy to find our way back to the port taking the elevator from the gardens down to the sea level and then walking to the port entrance.

We had an excursion guide who was disorganized and curt. A passenger told him it was hard to hear him and he responded "what do you want me to do about it?" His name was Michael and several passengers were talking about his lack of people skills.

Do not take the "Get on, Get off" buses at this port or any port. I did and it was a disaster. Long lines, a lot of people for a little space to get on the buses. Disaster, a friend of mine took a local Taxi for 60 Eor and had a great time.

Loved Valletta! This was one of my favourite ports as it's easy to navigate your way around. The hop on hop off bus is well worth it as there are 2 routes you can take round the island, but it's worth going to Republic Square and strolling through all the streets with the bars and restaurants on either side. Beautiful place.

We Valletta and 3 cities cruise. It was a fantastic tour, starting with walking round Valletta, our guide was excellent , before boarding a tourist boat. We spent 2 hours on the cruise with plenty photo opportunities, again the guide was excellent. A trip to remember

Stunning port with lots to see and do. Don't use the red hop-on-hop- off bus service - they take too long and are often late. The blue ones are more regular. We did a trip out to the Mdina which was lovely but far,so just keep that in mind if you are not on the ship's excursion.
