Docked in a lorry park out of town, arse of nowhere on a sunday! There was even a picket line to cross in opposition to Tui and others expanding the port.

Port was adequate to facilitate disembarkation in a timely manner.

I liked it very much. I Spent an extra two days there before moving on to Glyfada where I am now. Piraeus has something to offer for everyone.

I didn't bother taking the excursion in Athens as I had just been there 6 months ago and knew exactly what I wanted to have my family see. It cost less to rent a cab to the Acropolis (30euro for 4 people) walk down the main old town and go see Zeus' temple, Adrian's Arch, etc on our own. If we had wanted to, we could have even paid the 120euro that the cab driver wanted and had him take us around to all of the sites and assure us an ontime arrival back to the port for less than the 50euro/head that the ship wanted for the excursion.

Our excursion was cancelled due to a strike at all archeological sites whis was disappointing but no fault of RC - we took the ship transport to Plaka and spent a nice day roaming around and had lunch.

Having been here before, we were a little disappointed with the level of scaffolding on the Acropolis and at the Temple of Zeus. But at least on the Acropolis, they seem to be making progress in restoration. Not so at the Temple of Zeus.

It was not what I expected. It was a big busy city.
