Only spent a couple days before boarding. Saw the Acropolis. Get there in the morning. It gets very crowded even during off season

While the Acropolis was stunning, the crowds were not. Climbing stairs that are extremely old is hard enough, but almost being pushed down them several times made things impossibly difficult. The local schools were having their field trips all at once, so there were kids runnung around, pushing, and even pick-pocketing. I'm sure the experience would have been better on a less crowded day, but we did not enjoy it at all.

I went to the Acropolis and saw a quick tour of the city by bus. I would not recommend this particular tour and would suggest an option that allows for stops at several historical sites or venture off independently.

Acropolis, Hadrian's gate, parliament building guards (their march is something else- it was comical.) Use the bus and the metro and don't get swindled by a cab driver. Look at a map and info ahead of time to get the bus number and buy a ticket at the kiosk before you board.

A "must see" at least once in a person's life, if for no other reason than the historical significance of the structures. Personally, I prefer the tours where you drive by, and stop for a few photos, rather than the ones where you trek over rocks, and hear history.
