We booked Joe Banana Tours to do a private Godfather Tour and Taormina. There were 4 if us and the tour was great but the driver could not speak very good English. He was very personable and took us to see a lot of places. Taormina was very nice and we had a view of Mt. Etna. Very scenic. Would ask for a more English speaking guide next time.

We did not book any tour and instead decided to walk. While we saw some beautiful buildings and churches, we could not find any destination place or a place to eat. We headed back to the ship early. Look to see what excursions are offered for this port.

Not my favorite excursion. Messina itself was really nice, but we chose the wrong excursion. We selected “Easy Drive around Mt. Aetna”, because of my mobility issues, and we didn’t see much. But I heard there were other more interesting excursions. Oh well, can’t win them all!

We took the Taormina excursion. Excellent guide, beautiful town. Nature provided a thunderstorm show over the mountains as we departed after sundown.
