Since we have visited Florence and Pisa, we decided to visit Livorno instead. It is a small city with some good shopping options. For the gluten free cruisers - there is a gluten free bakery in town with delicious Italian treats!!! You have to take a very crowded, chaotic and expensive shuttle bus from port to city. You are not allowed to walk.

Rain spoiled our day here. You could spend several days in Florence and still want more. Pisa is similar. And yet our excursion only gave us about 4 hours in Florence and 1 hour in Pisa. The drive from Livorno ate up the rest.

Excursion to Cinque Terre was great. When we originally booked the cruise port was La Spezia which would have been better than Livorno.

We did the Hills of Lucca and wine tasting. It was nice, but the rainy weather put a halt on the full experience.

The tour provided by NCL was below average. Took 3 hours longer than advertised. Very unprofessional. Florence is a beautiful city . Would highly recommend visiting.
