Isola D'Ischia is an island located near the northwest entrance to the Bay of Naples at the foot of Monte Epomeo, an extinct volcano. Subjected to frequent attack and invasions, you can visit an medieval castle in the fishing village of Ischia Ponte. The island is now famous for its locally-harvested olive oil and wine. Its mild climate, beautiful scenery, and numerous springs make this a popular vacation resort and getaway. Ischia is the administrative centre of the island and home to a bishop.
