We had reserved a rail tour to Rome that was cancelled. We rebooked a tour of the Etruscans in Tuscany and was the highlight of our tour. Afer visiting more tombs than an Egyptian we stopped in Tanqueinin (?) for a brief stop of what Florence was like pre-Under the Tuscan the Sun days. Then on to a winery for tasting and light brunch. A wonderful time. Also, take the shuttle into Civitavecchia after 5pm, find RISTORANTE LA SCALETTA (?) for a great very fresh seafood dinner

Rome itself is very dirty and pickpockets are real. We embarked in Rome so we stayed 2 days ahead of our cruise and 2 days after in order to see more of the city.

We were disappointed that we were not able to see the Cistine Chapel, but loved the Colisseum and the Forum. We ate in a terrific restaurant that our guide recommended. The excursion again was not with the ship.
