We stayed in Rome before and after the trip. If you stay near Termini in Rome you can have access to the airport, port, and metro to travel around the city at a very inexpensive rate. Wish we had known and used it on our trip to port and when we first arrived from the airport.

We had chosen to do “Rome on your Own” Wish I had been more prepared. There was supposed to be maps but there weren’t any & we ended up getting lost and going around in circles and I only saw the Colosseum and the forum in five hours -missed the Trevi & the Spanish steps and so much more😳 I was disappointed and it was cold and rainy which didn’t help. We ended up taking a taxi back to our meeting place . I would’ve really really liked a map next time I’ll get my own and not rely on others

Excursion: Rome on your own. The coach took us just outside the Vatican. From there we purchased a hop-on-hop-off tour that did not even provide a map of the various stops. I was not impressed! We did not stay on for long and decided to walk, and walk we did. We had lunch in Piazza Navona, walked in front of the Pantheon, continued to the Trevi Fountain, then to the Spanish Steps and ended up at Piazza del Popolo. There we sat and enjoyed a glass wine then took a taxi back to the Vatican for our return trip to the ship.

Easiest disembarkation port we've ever experienced.

Did not take an excursion, as we had been to Rome twice before. Not much to do in Vivitavecchia. Plus, it was the only day we had rain!

We saw the Vatican, the Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Pantheon and one or two other sights but they are a blur. It was great seeing all of the sights, but because there were so many tourist groups it was hard to get in to really see the sights and really enjoy them. But if you are only going to be in Rome once you want to see all that you can. There was no time for shopping fro souvenirs. We must have eaten lunch somewhere, but I can't remember where. This excursion was also through American Airlines.

World-class City, world-class antiquities. They really need better trash pick-up and graffiti clean up. Such a shame.

Nothing to do in port area. Arrange a private car to Rome. Pre-plan what you want to do & see as it's really too much to cover in one day. Eat pasta and have espresso!
