Rome is a great city. Be sure to go and see the sights. The port is a good hour plus between the two. The port itself seemed temporary, but it was organized. No frills, but it had everything necessary to get us taken care of and on the boat.

Civitavecchia is a PORT CITY ... there is NOT MUCH TO SEE THERE ... you must take a shore excursion ... I recommend Orvieto a stunning hilltop town. It takes about an hour and a half to get there, but it's totally worth it.

Excursion: Rome in a day This excursion is not for those that find it hard to walk fairly long distances at a pace. Our guide walked very quickly and sometimes it was hard to understand him however his knowledge was excellent. First stop colosseum Very crowded as expected but still stunning. No time allowed to go inside any of the buildings and very little shade so be warned. Second stop People’s Square Walked a fair way to get to square. Was told Trevi fountain was 25 mind each way at a pace and we only had 1 and 1/2 hours. Had Mum with us so took a taxi from the square and back. Total cost 18 euros but worth every penny. No idea why people’s square was used as a stop. Third stop St Peters Square Wow. Don’t miss this one. Overall your was ok just don’t expect any time to rest

We arrived 2 days early to enjoy Rome. We arranged private tours that were fabulous. What was disappointing about most of the excursions provided by Regent is that each consisted of ~30 people with no voice box. It was impossible for everyone to hear the guide.
