We started our cruise here .. spent 3 days here. It was wonderful .. they food was amazing. The historical sites awesome. This appointed to see all the graffiti and trash.

very far to Rome. We had transfers because we were staying two nights outside of Rome. Not too much to do at port itself. Buy an excursion if you are here for just one day.

Note: it is about two hours of travel between Civitavecchia and Rome. Take a tour in this city unless you have been here before. So much to see in a very short time.

Rome is a long way from the port. This means a $75 per person cab/shuttle or a long walk to the train station and about an hour. Nice people in Civitavecchia, with some touches of Roman architecture but certainly no substitute for any of Rome's grand attractions.

Don't bother waiting for a shuttle . If you dock at 12 BIS (N) it is only a 30 minute walk to the railway station

We did the wine-tasting/Lake Bracciano tour rather than driving to Rome and back. It was mostly forgettable, but the wine tasting was fun - no one wanted to leave.
