it's just a port,however you can take a train to Rome.very easy and frequent,so you can have a nice daytrip

There is nothing in Civitavecchia. Their are some beaches, although in March it was to cold to go. The port is an hour from Rome. Taxi fare was 165 Euro for a group of 4.

We decided that 3 hours off transportation to and from Rome for just a few hours to view this incredible city is a total diservice to the patrons. Fortunately, we had been to Rome many times but felt sorry for those that were rushed and unable to enjoy it's beauty. We would have prefered another port with better possiblities like one closer to Florence or Milan.
