This was a really beautiful place in a rugged kind of way. It is very hilly and you need to be able to walk up and down to enjoy the sights. Oia city was really unique in its layout and the brilliant colors of the buildings. The way houses are built up the sides of the mountains is very interesting. The views down to the water are awesome. The only complaint was the early hour to leave the ship (7am) and the fact that the tours and the arrival of the ship were not coordinated very well. The Windjammer didn't open as early as it needed to for people to have a meal. The ship arrived later than the time that the first tours were to leave and nothing was said about how tours were going to be affected. It meant we had to wait in the theater longer than we should have had to. The beaches are eay to get to on a bus but they are not sandy. They are black rocks and were cold when we visited in early May. Since I don't drink, I would skip the winery tour.

Santorini views are spectacular! We were so disappointed in how commercial it is.....Really No excursion. did not enjoy walking thru the town...To many people and to many shops take away from the beauty. We won't be back.

We went to the city and it was very pretty up there and the views were great but getting up there is horrendous! The lines are insane to ride the tram up there or to ride a donkey. You have to walk up the same road the donkeys take up so it isn't very safe and it's very tiring. Once you get to the top there are thousands of people from the cruise ships all trying to do stuff so it's very crowded and frustrating.

Beautiful sail in,outstanding. The ship entered the caldera and sailed past villages that dotted the jagged cliffs and anchored below the main town where you could see the cable car and the mule track. The tenders took you to the cable car or, for excursions ,the new port where buses and taxis waited. We took a beach excursion to perissa beach. Black sand beach, padded lounges were 10 euro, warm clear water. We had thought we would have more time back in Fira before we caught the tender but only a half hour. Could have left the beach an hour and a half sooner, would have been perfect amount of time for the beach and cafe hopping in Fira. Beautiful sunset tender ride back to ship.
