All shore excursions end in the town of Fira. Only three ways back to ship from there. The cable car with very long wait times. the donkeys not recommended and the 588 steps, that were not too bad if you are active, however you share the steps with the donkeys, who have no manners. donkey poop everywhere.

Took the ships tour of the ultimate Santorini. Small group of 15 and went from one end of the island to the other.

We did the Charming Oia Village and Winery Tour. The excursion was nice but I wish we had more time to spend in Oia. All trips end in Fira and the line for the cable car is extremely long (..which the cruise rightly warns you about). If you're somewhat in shape, I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes and walking down from the town instead of waiting for the cable car.

Simply amazing ! Oir is a must see the wait for the cable car can be up to 1 hr in the hot sun but still better than the slippery donkey poop laden steps !!

LOVED SANTORINI! This was the highlight for me for this cruise. We did the Village of Oia and swim excursion and as it was a early start, we had priority for the tenders in the morning to get to the port to get the coach. Our guide was a lovely elderly man who had lots of knowledge. The roads are very windy and lots of hairpin turns, not for the faint hearted. Oia is as beautiful as the pictures on the internet suggest, white washed buildings and blue domes. After Oia, we went to the south of the island to a lovely beach where we had about 2 and half ours to soak up the sun and eat some lunch before going back to Fira to look around and catch the cable car. A word of warning: our guide gave us tickets for the cable car and said we didn't have to queue as we already had a ticket, but when my mum and I got there, we still had to queue up. So just be careful if your guide says you don't have to queue. But overall this port is lovely and definitely worth a visit

This was the only port where a tender was required. The process was run very smoothly from the ship - just need to listen to the announcements so you know what to do. We docked at 12 noon; bu 12.30pm we were on the tender boat heading to Santorini. Anyone who booked an excursion through the ship got off first. We booked an excursion through Viator prior to leaving. Once we got to shore we waited in line for the cable car - it moved fairly quickly so we didn't have time to look at the souvenir shops along the way. We didn't want to ride the donkeys and the cable car ride was smooth and over quickly. Met our tour guide Kostas on time and had a wonderful day sightseeing. He took us from one end of the island to the other with plenty of stops for photo's. Highlight was going to the Archaeological Museum of Thera - Akrotiri. Highly recommend this visit. We didn't have a guide but there's plenty of information boards to understand what you''re looking at. Kostas dropped us off, advised where he would meet us and the time. He made sure we were back on time to get back to our ship. He had to park a fair distance away from the cable car as there's no parking anywhere near. We got lost walking back to the cable car as the streets looked the same. There's plenty of English speaking tourists so we asked how to get back to the cable car and were given directions that took us longer than expected and required walking up a mountain of stairs to arrive back where we started. We were lucky as apparently the cable car had been out of action for a few hours and people had to walk down the same steps as the donkeys. A couple of people we spoke to weren't impressed; it took 1/2 an hour to walk down dodging donkeys, their poop and people walking up. As this was our first time there I'm glad we chose an excursion and saw the prehistoric city. This is a beautiful place which caters for and appears to be very reliant - on tourists. Many signs are in English and our guide told us a lot more hotels are being built to meet demand. Beware of pickpockets. While we were waiting for our guide a woman in front of us had her purse stolen. The thief was apparently caught stealing someone else's wallet but the first woman didn't get hers returned. As some areas are jam-packed with people it creates the perfect environment for pickpockets. Recommend wine tasting and chutney, pickle tasting if you can. Wine can be purchased but must be handed over before getting back on the ship to be collected when the cruise ends.

Because of the high winds and the closure of the funicular the cruise ship provided buses quickly to bring us back to the pier

Took "The Charming Oia Village" tour through NCL and felt misled as we only had an hour an 20 minutes to walk around here which is not long enough. We ended the tour in Fira and watched the amazing sunset from a cliffside bar. The lineup for the cable car down was fairly quick but we were the only ship in port.
