When you land on the quayside, walk 50m to the left and buy a ticket for a boat that takes you on a 30 min cruise to Oia quay where an included bus takes you up to the town. After 3 hours the bus takes you all back to the cable cars to get back to the ship's tender.

So faced 2 of my fears here the tender boat and the cable car. Both wasn’t as bad as I thought. We just walked round the shops and sat and had a drink overlooking the beautiful views which were amazing.

The challenges of having to take the tender to the island and the cable car to get back down are well worth it. Some of the most amazing views ever, perched on the edges of a former volcano with a couple newer volcaninc islands nearby. BTW, the shore excursion preview should include the proper pronunciation of the first town you see, Oiya, which sounds like "Ee-ya."
