It was raining at this port, so did not spend much time at the Olympia ruins, but the museums were amazing!

We did a beach excursion at this port. Katakolon is a small port town, really just two streets of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. The excursion took us to Karoutas where we were able to sit on the beach for the day. We were told that chairs and umbrellas were free, but any refreshments could be purchased at the restaurant. We were also supposed to be there for 3 hours and it was only about 2 hours 15 because it took longer getting off the ship. The other disappointing part of this was that we were informed by a waiter that we had to buy something to eat or drink. We had not been previously advised of this. Basically we were able to just buy a soda so it wasn't a big deal, but if we had been warned in advance, we would have done so in the first place and this wouldn't have been an issue. As for the town, it was very nice with pleasant people Easily walkable and you could sit outside overlooking the blue water and have a nice cool drink of some kind.

Also a private tour booked through United Airlines Travel Agency. Description said wine tasting but we never did that. We did see the archeological site and were able to explore for an hour on our own or walk into town. Lots of shopping available at the small town near by. We were fed a light lunch at a local olive farm and treated to a traditional Greek Dance. The private tour of the farm was very short and not very informative as was hoping.

Unless you do the Olympia (which we did not) the town is boring and dirty and expensive. Other who went to Olympia said it was great so do that

As we were earlier in Olimpia, we climbed up to the MELTEMI Cafe, from where was a wonderful view. Then walked to the end of the peninsula. After walking back, had a break at the beach close to the port. It was a nice day.
