Havana is a must experience destination! The culture is amazing, the people so friendly and the food if carefully researched before hand is fantastic! I recommend hiring a private guide.

Great city ~ fun and cheap. FLYING back next year to re-buy my rum that was lost by the ship.

The old town nearby where the ships docks is pretty nice. But a few streets further away...you will see the real Cuba...Be aware that the port of Havana is dirty...Full of oil...It even stained the ship! But what I found bad was the oil odour that we could smell all over...even in the staterooms! I asked some staff if It's always like that and they told me yes, most of the times...

Havana is very poor (which we expected) and very dirty. We did an excursion on our own usingoldcars.com and they were excellent! They charged 80 cucs for two of us for a 2-hour tour (which was plenty because it was HOT). We got to select our car (which you can't do through the ship's excursion) and we chose a 1956 Ford Fairlane convertible. We ate at Nao's which is just a few blocks from the cruise port. My husband had a red snapper which he said was delicious.

This was just ok. There was not much information on the cruise regarding a bunch of information. We did a Hemingway tour which was very informative and kinda cool. With taht being said I was looking to purchase some cigars here and there was very little information provided by the cruise ship or anyone for that matter. My research on this before departure showed you can bring back $100 worth of cigars per person. ONce on the ship they reported you could bring back 100 cigars. Customs personnel reported you can not have a suitcase full but if they are ONLY for you, that was fine. Cuba had many beautiful old cars to look at and the beautiful buildings were amazing. There was little to no information on where to do and what to do. Again this is not a destination for little or younger kids as there isn't much to do here for them.
