Take a short cab ride to Latin Star restaurant in the Condado. Best restaurant, sit inside or out, beach a street away, shopping, casinos, cab back to port. Awesome way to do something different in PR other than the fort and Senor Frogs

Most of sights are within walking range. Visit the fortress for a good view. Try some local food in one of the smaller restaurants in the outskirt of San Juan.

Use Uber, outside airport, way better experience than over priced taxi. Must see Old Town, get the Pina Colada at Barrachina and stumble to Raices for the Mofongo. La Bombonera has great Lattes and pasteries not to mention terrific lemonaide, fresh squeezed. Take the water taxi ferry $1 round trip from Old Town to Catano for the Bacardi Rum factory tour. Beware, the guy at the Catano port is not a Bacardi employee, its a taxi. Uber if you have 3 or more in your party. Taxi is $3 per person. Uber is $5.75.

San Juan is wonderful. We spent days pre-cruise and one day post-cruise in San Juan. Old Town is fantastic. The Fort tour is one of the best forts in the Caribbean. The People are great, the food and drinks are great and there is so much to see.

This is my favorite port on cruises. We guided ourselves through Old San Juan. We walked from the cruise port to the umbrella display on Calle Fortaleza outside the governor's mansion. Then we went to Don Ruiz for coffee. Iced coffee was refreshing and yummy. We be walked around the outside of the fort then walked down Calle Fortaleza stopping in some shops. Finally, we had lunch at La Madre on Calle San Francisco. Fantastic food and a Carribean Cherry Margarita that was out of this world. A quick 10 minute walk back to the boat. Such a great day!

I don't think I can summarize what San Juan did to me. I fell in love with this place! We flew down 2 days prior to embarkation and stayed at the 'Hotel Miramar'. We ate at "Casita Miramar" 2 times and I can't recommend it enough! We did our own tour and walked through Old San Juan, toured the forts, ate and drank at Barrachina which claims to be the original Piña Colada and it was delicious! Finally we relaxed with family at a beach and had dinner at another local restaurant close to the beach. We concluded the evening by making a CVS run for last minute items and Champagne and wine. We sipped the wine on our hotel's rooftop area and enjoyed the night time views.

We visited San Juan on our cruise last year and were happy to be back! This time, we did the El Yunque Rain forest Excursion and were very happy with our choice. We really liked how Royal Caribbean has you meet with your shore excursion group in the main theater before leaving the ship. It was much more organized and stress free than leaving the ship and not knowing where to go. We had the sweetest, funniest, and most informative tour guide. She was great!! It took about 50 minutes to get to the rain forest with a restroom break on the way as there is no real restrooms within the forest, only port-a-potties which she did not know the condition of since they were used for the rain forest clean up crew from the storm. We had an amazing time on this excursion, climbing up the side of a waterfall, hiking up to the top of the lookout tower, enjoying some beautiful green scenery and learning all about San Juan and El Yunque. The tour lasted from 7:30am-11:30am and was packed with fun and information. We had plenty of time (left port at 3pm) to explore the streets of Old San Juan and get gelato at our favorite shop Chocolata. We love it so much we got 2 cones each lol. We even got to see Fortaleza (or the umbrella street as it is sometimes referred to). This was such a cool experience and makes for a great photo op! It isn't too far from the ship either so not a huge hike. We did not do the forts this time as we already did those last year and wanted to explore new areas of the port.

Old San Juan is a most. Just walk around eat and drink local. Try the MAVI and local street food you will love it. Buy from the local vendor they have the best prices, we bought a leather belt for $12.00, leather key chain with names engrave for $2.00. The people are friendly and the culture is rich with history.

Gorgeous city rich in history. Took a 2 hr bus tour that was offered as soon as we exited the port, so glad we did! We visited new San Juan & Old San Juan, the Avenue of the Presidents, the dignitary cemetery & drove by both forts. Had the option of being returned to port or dropped at smaller Fort, we chose the later. $5 entrance into San Cristobal where we spent a hour plus walking the grounds & speaking with the park rangers. After that we walked down to the plaza where there was a local craft fair going on. Bought a few souvenirs & then headed across the street to Cafe Puerto Rico for an authentic Puerto Rican lunch - Mofongo & Medalla Cerveza and Pina Coladas!! Definitely want to go back some day to visit El Morro & explore the rain forest!
