Carnival should not even stop at this port. there is absolutely nothing to do unless you paid big bucks for an Excursion or $30 for a taxi to take you somewhere. it is very dirty, a lot of trash just lying about and people are not friendly either. after much deliberation we settled on a $40 per person shuttle to Altos de chavon. that was another $10 per person to get in, however it was beautiful. we also stopped to tour a cave. that was another $5 per person. it was pretty cool also . total cost $110 not including tip.

The ship was surrounded by security staff, I'm sure for our protection. The wife and child did not feel safe at this port. We only got off to do the port shops as a result and the people there was extremely pushy.
