GET A EXCURSION AT THIS PORT!!!!! There is only a limited amount of shops and nothing else to do! Thankfully, my family and I went on the dunebugging excursion (highly suggest) and by the time we came back we had enough time to shop. Mainly tent shops and a big pavilion but that's about it. Oh and make sure you eat before you get off the ship because unless you want a drink and a churro, that's all you're going to get!! The dunebugging excursion was great! Our tour guides took us through sugar cane fields and the countrysides and educated us on their sugar cane industry! If you decide on taking this excursion, bring a bag of candy for the kids in the neighborhoods! Make sure you bring bandanas and close to face sunglasses as you will be getting lots of dirt and dust in your face! And make sure you wear clothes that you don't care about as you will be getting dirty! Only downside is that once you're done with the excursion, you hop right on the bus dirty and muddy. But you get lots of attention in port! ;)

Visited casa de campo and was very happy with the weather. Very safe compound. Many other passengers took the train ride which was promoted by the CD the morning of debarking into port however, we recommend visiting casa de campo.

I went on an excursion here. It was the Saona Island & Blue Lagoon with Open Bar. The island was more than an hour from the ship. It took a 20 min. bus ride and then a 50 minute boat ride to get there. The boat ride is not smooth so I would not recommend it for anyone with back problems. On the boat ride out, we stopped at a sandbar (with about 5 other boats) to swim and drink. This was the best swimming of the day. We were there for about 30 minutes then got back in the boat and headed for the island. On the island we were given a designated area of the beach to stay in. The food provided was okay but the drink choices were very limited. The swimming area was rocky and very shallow, and the depth never even got to my waste. A couple of hours on the beach and we headed back. I do not think I would book this excursion again.

Our snorkeling excursion through Carnival was canceled so we booked the Catalina Island excursion. Beautiful beach. Probably wouldn't want to venture out alone at this port.
