We did an excursion to an all-inclusive resort for the day - Catalonia Resort. It was kind of confusing - the resort is large and we weren't sure where to go, no map or anything was given. We ate at the buffet and it was just okay, nothing special. The drinks weren't that great either. But the beach was gorgeous and the water was so warm. We spent most of the time swimming and it was perfect.

Port was not that exciting but we did an excursion through Seavis Tours which was AMAZING! The staff was so helpful and friendly and the excursion was absolutely beautiful!

Our first stop was Amber Cove. It was nice and clean. Enjoyed shopping and stopped at a bar for drinks. La Romana was our second stop. Enjoyed the dancers from our balconies. Loved the duty free shops and the outside shops at dockside. Then took bus to the market square and shopped around. Enjoyed the baseball stars statutes in the city park.

This port was beautiful. We really enjoyed the music they played for us all day and especially at sail away. We went to Monkeyland. This was definitely the best excursion we could have picked. The monkeys jumped from tree to tree and person to person. It was so much fun! We got to see so much beautiful countryside on the way to it and in the mountains.

My sister, cousins and myself did Extreme Zipline Adventure. 18 platforms and 12 zip lines. We had an amazing time. La Romana is a beautiful island.

I was very disappointed here. Carnival staff encouraged excursions here and said the city was not safe for tourists. I think this was a business ploy. The city looks like any other from the top of Carnival Vista. Also, if it was dangerous, why did they take us there? We could have gone to any of the Virgin Islands and had a great time. Any place that wants to attract a cruise ship can throw up 30 tents and find a hundred people who want to sell crafts and foods. I intended to stay on the boat and only ventured into the "port" for a few souvenirs. The arrival point amounted to several canopy tents covering vendors, several food vendors, and an aluminum building style flea market shopping area. One of the vendors tried to be aggressive with me and I told him I would not buy anything from him at any price. No more problems after that. Don't give people the idea that they can push you around and they will not try.

Had a great zipline adventure with friends. All guides were friendly and helpful, the facility was clean and well maintained, and the meal at the end was fine too. Overall good value, allthough, as often is the case, another hour would have made it over the top.

The port in unremarkable, as others have said venturing to the city can be dangerous. The tours provided the ship are lackluster. After reading other reviews we opted for a day pass at the dreams resort $65 pp. The taxi ride from the port can be $90+ depending on group size, if you can find other parties you can get better pricing. Unfortunately, you then are tied to the group. We chose to rent a car right outside the cruise village gates. You can rent a car for less than a taxi and control your day. We found this to be the best option. Note: at the dreams it is all inclusive, although the buffet does not allow swim attire, and you have to be dry ( yes, they feel the clothes) the buffet is quite remarkable, many choices to choose from. The food is considerably better than what is served on the cruise. The beach and water are spectacular. Three stars because the port sucks as well as the tour choices. Even the tours that you can purchase outside the cruise line are poor. The resort though is worth 5 stars, but it can easily run a couple hundred bucks.
