The excursion we took included the sugar cane field and the cigar making stops. These areas of the DR are very poor and so dirty. It was upsetting to see how the people live with all the litter around and don't have enough pride to clean it up. Sad.

In my opinion, La Romana was a waste of a port. The closest city (Punta Cana) was a 45 minute drive away from the port. There were no beaches close by. The only thing my family and I did before returning back on board the ship was walk around and shop at the shops right at the port. Most people from my group were not interested in this port.

We did an excursion with SeavisTours which was AMAZING!!!! From the speed boat to the rum in waist deep ocean waters to playing with sword fish, to all you can eat lunch and drinks on a secluded beach This excursion was by far a winner and would do it again.

Monkeyland was ok but for the hour ride I felt rushed and was more about the pictures than holding the monkeys. They ate adorable though. The Flavors of DR at Marias house was interesting and was nice to pick up fresh items. Again a very long ride though
