We didn't book an excursion, we just stayed at the port and it was very relaxing! The pool was great, lots of shopping. We had a lot of fun walking up to the lookout point and we got some great pictures.

No excursion just hung out at port at the pool. Water slide was great and zip line was even better.

Took taxi ride, shared with another couple, otherwise very expensive. Taxi driver listened to our wishes, took us to see interesting sights such as pig roast, rum tasting, various neighborhoods (rich and poor, country and city). We told him we did not want to shop, and he did not insist on taking us shopping. He spoke excellent English and shared much about life in the Dominican Republic.

We did the Terre Cross. Wow, fun, but dirty and dusty! Pedro and Juan Carlo(s)? were great! Tasted fresh coconut water and meat and Juan Carlo climbed a tree to get us fresh mangos. OMG! So good. Took a dip in a local watering hole, tasted pineapple wine and some other treats too. Well worth it! Was nice to see the countryside and some of the local culture.

Very beautiful port with scenic mountainous backdrop. However there isn’t a beach at this port. We just walked around the port area which has amazing views. And shopped. Some of the shops offered free WiFi which was nice to call the kids back home.

Very relaxing and was serviced nicely. They weren't pushy in offering drinks or food and when we did ask for an umbrella the server came promptly! Plenty of FREE chairs and space by the pools and bars. The music was a great mix and we enjoyed this port alot just to get off our feet and relax!

We didn't do an excursion in this port. Instead we lounged by the pool at the port. Pool was very nice with plenty of seating. No charge for chairs, $20 for an umbrella. Water slide at the pool was not working. Many did the zip line which went over pool area. Those who did that seemed to enjoy it. It was pay one price for unlimited use. There was no access to the ocean from this port unless you travelled outside the property. Shopping for souvenirs was limited. Didn't see much of local crafts. Food and drinks good and fairly priced. Went up to the Sky Bar to see the view. Worth the steep climb up. Steps are uneven so hold on to rails. You can see mountains and ocean from here. Very windy up there. Hold on to money tight! We saw someone's check blow off the table with their money. I would go back here and book an excursion to see what the DR is really like.

This was a great port, Amber Cove is a beautiful resort area. We did the DamajAgua 27 falls excursion which required a 20 minute bus drive to Puerto Plata. Along the way you get to see the local sights and culture. Coming from a USA perspective, it is third world looking, but very nice people and never felt threatened. The Dominican Republic is the first Caribbean island that I’ve ever been to that has mountains and it immediately reminded me of Oahu Hawaii.

Loved this port. We had Osveldo Duran as our tour guide. Rum, coffee, pigeons, beautiful people, good food, good shopping ( when your guide takes you to off the beaten path) just a wonderful day
