Review summary

Overall we had a good time, however of the 8 cruises I’ve been on I would say this was my least favorite. Seems as though Carnival has become more of a party/booze cruise than I remembered. I will probably stick with Royal Caribbean from now on or try another cruise line. Even though Carnival’s food is much superior to Royal’s.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Our scheduled time was at 4. We arrived at 2:30 and was on the ship by 3.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was great! No complaints here.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Pools are very small for a ship this size. No whirlpools at the main pool. Other activities are limited.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Musicians are hit or miss. Guitarist at rock show was awesome. Other musicians were mediocre at best. And they played along to pre-recorded music.

Children's Programs

Did not bring my kids. Would never bring kids on Carnival due to a lot of inappropriate behavior by fellow guest.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our room steward, Putra, was great. However many of the staff were less than friendly and a couple were downright rude.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Ship is in need of a dry dock. Most amount of rust I have ever seen on a cruise ship. Carpeting in elevator areas was worn and had holes in places. Did not like the overall design of the ship. Ship has very limited windows in public areas. The way that deck 5 sticks out from the side of the ship limits your view of the ocean, and you cannot watch people boarding the ship unless you have a cove balcony. However there are plenty of places on the front of the ship to get great views.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was surprisingly in excellent condition considering the rest of the ship. Beds are great as well. Also the hallways outside of the cabins are nice as well.

Ship tip

Cabins do not have USB ports like some ships. However there is one on the t.v. It must be turned on to work.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Busy but nice. Port is very close to airport.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
One of the nicest beaches in the world. I love this place and this is the reason I booked this cruise. We walked about halfway to the end of the beach well past all of the crowds and there were two lounge chairs hidden in the trees waiting for us. Can’t wait to go back here!

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
This was the second time I’ve been here. The first time I did an island tour which was a bust. This time we stayed on the beach and walked to Jacks Shack. Very nice, a close second to Half Moon Cay.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
Very beautiful port with scenic mountainous backdrop. However there isn’t a beach at this port. We just walked around the port area which has amazing views. And shopped. Some of the shops offered free WiFi which was nice to call the kids back home.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Long lines which was to be expected for a ship this size.
