We walked the Amber Cove area and didn't go on any excursions. The area was clean and the shops were nice.

Impoverished area and port is obviously created just for cruise ships. The Damajagua waterfall excursion we did was amazing. Do it!

Nice, clean port. We went on the excursion to "La Casa en la Playa". Mama is a riot! Had a great time. Shopped around in the port itself for a while and went back on board.

Booked an excursion through Cruises Only. Amber Cove port is owned by Holland America, if your excursion is not through the ship you have to walk outside of the port facility - be aware this is a long walk. But once on the air conditioned bus we had 3 tour guides, Umberto, Carlos and Nelson was our driver. After seeing some historical sites, we went to the Jack Tar resort where we had the most wonderful beach beds with pillows! Again beautiful venue and beach was great.
