Review summary

The cruise was exactly what we needed to get away from reality, get away from computers and the internet, and to relax.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth, uncomplicated and well planned as we had the priority boarding

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was OK, not spectacular. We were very disappointed in the Lido buffet for dinner where there was one side open, many people trying to eat, and a lot of angry people. We normally ate in the main dining room for dinner but since we were off shiip, decided to eat at the buffet one night with great disappointment. The breakfast food was not hot; it was warm not matter what time we arrived. The lines were very long all the time. Desserts the first two days were great; the rest of the cruise they were tasteless. Pizza, however, was awesome, tasty and very hot. Self-serve ice cream and frozen yogurt were both great and tasty. The food in the main dining room as also OK, not spectacular. Our waiter brought hot and cold appetizers (salad and soup) at the same time - those should be brought out one at a time. Dinner entrees and appetizers were cold and had to be sent back to be warmed several evenings.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the outdoor fitness areas and enjoyed walking the 5th deck. One major disappointment was people placing towels on pool chairs and not returning to them for hours. There needs to be some way to identify people who do this and have their items removed after an hour or less of being unoccupied. We were unable to find chairs in the pool areas several times during the cruise.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed Donkey and his antics. The 80's music party and Mardi Gras party were great and we danced the nights away. The absolute best part of the music was the MJ Trio. We sat and watched and listened to just about every performance and purchased their CDs. Piano Andy was also awesome and fantastic. The shows were good and entertaining. The Love & Marriage show was hilarious.

Children's Programs

We do not have children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All ship personnel were polite and accommodating if we had questions. Our room steward was great as was our main dining room waiter. We did notice that ship's officers were not around on the ship where people could talk or say hi.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was immaculate...very clean and easy to get around. The restrooms were always clean and attended to.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size and cleanliness was perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed the larger bathroom with the two sinks and the tub.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
We stayed in Port Canaveral the night before and enjoyed the Manatee Sanctuary and several restaurants at the port.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We walked the Amber Cove area and didn't go on any excursions. The area was clean and the shops were nice.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
We didn't visit anything here - we went on a private yacht trip to St Johns, but were taken by shuttle to the yacht area. It was very heart breaking to see the damage remaining from the storms.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
We walked around Old San Juan on our own - the people and shops were great

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
We loved the new beach and dock. It was heart breaking to see the damage still evident to the island from the storms.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Communication was horrible. We had priority disembarkment, were told to be in the theatre and to listen for our 'number' to be called. We were in communication with our friends who opted to wait on deck 5 (also with priority disembarkation.) We sat in the theater and were never told anything. I finally went outside to the elevator area and found an employee who told us we should have left an hour prior. I advised her that no one from the ship was in the theater and that there were many other families waiting to get off still sitting in the theater. We heard announcements sporatically about decks being let off but our 'priority disembarkation number' was never called. Our luggage was literally the last ones sitting in the luggage pick up area for our number. There was no communication at all to those of us in the theater no those on deck 5 who were outside. We missed our shuttle pickup to go back to the airport and had to wait for them to return.
