A: very sketchy, would not go back. pot smoking, trying to sell it to us. be very careful and take a ship excursion, especially with a 1 year old.
Answered by Ally57 on December 30, 2023
A: Ocho Rios is Uber Sketchy. Stay on the ship, or take a ship excursion. The beach right there is not desirable for family’s. Lots of locals with booze bottles in paper bags drinking from them

A: when I went 5 year years ago we did the excursion to a beach. book it from the cruise
Answered by senders on January 3, 2024
A: Due to the locals free-spiritedness and local "smoking" allownces, I would stick with the ship's sponsored excursions at this port, to keep a better eye on the little one. Surrounding the port is mostly shopping, many attractions are at least a 30 mi... nute taxi ride away.See More

A: Yes i have been there twice the first time was 10 years ago and we loved it. BUT we went back A month ago and I was blown away. Ocho Ríos is not the same it’s so much im so lost for words my teen age grandkids calls it ghetto I totally agree with e... veryone else comments too much pot every where and demanding you to buy it and you would see it in all forms even in candies and brownies. Be very careful and stay with the cruise excursion. I’m don’t know if you are in the cruise heading to caymans island but they have the best beach in the world. Safe cruising God blessSee More

Answered by Ruby13 on December 12, 2023
A: Yes… they have a nice shopping area.. and Margaritaville.. its free
Answered by Ruby13 on December 12, 2023
A: Not free but super cheap. Think we paid 200 Jamaican dollars per person to enter, which worked out to around $5usd total for a family of three. That was around a year ago but can't imagine much has changed.

A: Best thing to do at Ocho Rios is the Dunns River Falls. The excursions that were offered last time we were there were not great and semi dangerous. Hope they have improved the security there for you and your family. But the Falls is the most beautifu... l place on Jamaica.See More

A: Dunn's River Falls. You climb beautiful falls (hand in hand) with a guide. It's not as difficult as it sounds. If I can do it, anyone can. I've never been athletic. Age limit is no one younger than 7 years old. Very unique experience!
Answered by CruiseQueen34 on October 24, 2023
A: If you choose Dunn River Falls, get water shoes in advance. if you don't have them, they stop at a store and require you to purchase them.
Answered by CruiseCat13 on October 26, 2023
A: I did a river tubing excursion in Jamaica that was great fun! We had all ages in our group and everyone seemed to have a good time.

A: Yes, Mystic Mountain, several ziplines through the rainforest, it's fantastic and very close to the cruise terminal

A: I have done the canopy zip line excursion and it was awesome. That was about 12 years ago. It was booked at shore excursion desk on the ship at that time.

A: I've been at YS Falls. Truly amazing but I'm not sure you can get there on a port day. We went when we stayed at a resort.

Q: Do they drugged the horses to keep them going for the tourists in Jamaica like they did in Mexico? This happened to me and I had loved horseback riding but not like this.

A: Definitely get some water shoes. They are required. You can buy them there for a free
Answered by chrismandie2017 on September 8, 2022
A: You must wear water shoes, it’s not an east climb and they stay on. If you don’t own them, they’ll rent you a pair
Answered by deboftheseas on December 9, 2022
A: Don't go. Not worth it. crowded and you get hounded and harassed to buy "your dvd" of the tour. they've even followed us onto the bus...
Answered by miller214 on December 7, 2022
A: the Falls fliw.pretty rapidly, so I don't think Crocs would work very well.
Answered by Farmhouse2 on December 10, 2022
A: you need water shoes. they are required, you could wear sneakers if you don't care that will be wet for days! They do rent water shoes at Dunns River if you can't find any to buy, but they are nice to have on rocky beaches as well.
Answered by crusin4gramma on December 7, 2022
A: No Croc's are not a good option! you need shoes that are tight on your feet!
Answered by crusin4gramma on December 10, 2022
A: NO!, Two ways to climb the falls. Up the falls themselves, preferably holding hands as you climb the boulders being careful not to slip and possibly get seriously injured. Or walk up a path next to the falls. Street venders both at the bottom and top... of the falls will annoy you to no end. Much better alternatives: horseback riding on the beach and into the water. All-inclusive resort day pass. And more.See More

A: We really enjoyed it. It was my favorite excursion of the whole trip. We had an excellent guide who helped us get safely up the falls. It might not be for someone who is out of shape because you are climbing and the pace is rapid. Also not for so... meone who doesn’t want to be wet, we fell back into the water, went back into the falls for pictures and used rocks to slide into pools. There are vendors at end of excursion, just keep walking through, politely saying no thank you if you are not interested.See More

A: Yes, I have done it 3 times. Last time my knee was real bad, so we did the long tube and we also loved that, just enjoy yourself. ronaldlcook@msn.com /

A: Sure is! We have done 6 times! people in line help you up. some sections are tough and slippery. yes you can get hurt if you slip off the rocks, but you have to try it so you can say " I Did That!"
