A very poor but remarkably scenic island. Recommend going to waterfalls. We hired taxi driver Kelvin Albert at the dock, and he gave us a very good tour.

Again, only allowed in port shopping area that had about 8 booths, all with exact same items, unless you had a Celebrity sponsored excursion.

We did the ships river tubing excursion on Dominica. The tour was badly organized, no clear direction and many small tour vans, which took forever to arrive. Once at the tour destination, we were suited up and led to the River. It was quite a slow tube down, which one of the guides informed us was because of the drought they were suffering. It appears that the River is 6” lower that it normally is. My husband thought this is information we should have had before the excursion began with the option to cancel. I say it was fun. More fun perhaps if the water had been higher, but fun none the less

We took a half day jeep excursion that we booked tough Viator online but we were put with a group from the ship excursion. It took an hour to get this going so our excursion was only 2 hours instead of 3-4 hours as advertised. Seemed like we hurried through it all so they could get back to do a second tour in the afternoon. We did enjoy the open jeep and places we went.

Port a little industrial, free bus to town but it is just stools selling much of the same, found a taxi driver called Mickey Charles (7673162842) who took us (for a very good price) to the emerald waterfalls, botanical gardens, the beach, hot springs and saw many more sites, great day and the island turned out to be stunning, definitely recommend getting away from port.
