I had much the same experience as in St Thomas. Again, I chose the island tour however, on this one, I probably would have enjoyed it more had I been able to understand a word our tour guide said.

At St Martin, we took a water taxi, right from where our boat docked, to a fabulous beach and shopping. I don't even know the name of the beach but it was right where you get dropped off from the water taxi, which only cost $5.00 per person RT. The beach was gorgeous, warm turquoise water and white sand.

This island has St. Maarten (Dutch) and St. Martin (French). The Dutch side is not much of anything although some like shopping there. The French side is better and has the best beaches. I highly recommend "Orient Beach" on NW side. Just S of there is a more protected and very private beach with less waves.

St. Maarten has everything a vacationer could possibly want right as you exit the cruise ship. The beach and shopping are just off of the pier and are easily accessible by water taxi.

St. Maarten was a lovely Island also. Here we went to downtown to the stores. We didnt take any tour.

Shopping was a waste of time as there were the same stores as St. Thomas. Enjoyed the tour of the island.
