We rented a car - it was cheaper to rent a car for the day than it would have been for us to have a taxi take us everywhere we wanted to go. We were able to escape all the touristy areas and actually see the real island. It was absolutely beautiful and I will never forget this.

The city is a poor city. We took the ultimate shopping and beach tour. The first shopping they took us to was a waste of time. A 2 room building with things to buy and a free rum drink. The next stop was a very small outdoor shopping area, and then we made it to the beach. It was beautiful.

St Maarten. Is beautiful and people were very friendly! First time to St Maarten and my husband and I enjoyed the beach. Blue water and white sand. 🌞🌞🌞

We are planning a trip to St. Maarten in February 2010. It was the most beautiful beach. Only drawback --- the beach peddlers selling their wares. It was VERY annoying and the guides were not interested in keeping them away from our area.

We have been here three times. This time we rented a car and explored the whole island, both the Dutch and French sides. There is much to do on St. Maarten. everything from participating in a mock America's Cup sail to shopping.

Took the Golden Eagle Catamaran trip and it was EXCELLENT!!! Great captain and family crew. All sodas, drinks and sandwiches were free. The boat was fun to sail on and the stop at a small island for snorkling and swimming was wonderful.
