enjoyed a tour of the island, including swimming at a black sand beach with impressive waves.

PAYS TO KNOW FRENCH. It is French so expect topless beaches and thongs. We visited on Sunday and everything was closed. A lady was mugged right in front of us by two guys on moped. They drove by and I thought patted the lady on shoulder but they actually stole her gold necklaces and vanished. It happened so fast. Never wear jewelry on shore and watch your bags. My husband said they were gonna grab his off his shoulder but he heard them coming and turned and looked eye to eye with the driver. Ladies with little shoulder purses take note they will slip up and cut the strap and you won't even know it before it is too late.

For such a large island with large population there were very few excursions offered. Must be that Martinique doesn't welcome tourits.

We visited here twice. First time we went to a beach on a water taxi and spent some time there. It was nice but there wasn't much there. Just a beach and a small restaurant. The second time we had a walk around the town. This was interesting and there were plenty of shops and things to see.

Went on the two bay snorkeling tour. Water was great - jump right in and clear to the bottom. Snorkeling equipment worked well. Saw some fish but not a wide variety. Crew on boat was accommodating and several were in the water point out things.
