This was actually our favorite port as it was a relaxing day at the beach. This port is private for the cruise ship so nothing is overcrowded even though we had a full ship, there were plenty of lounge chairs in both the sun and shade. The provided lunch was great. The water was crystal clear and you could wade out a long way. I was on a raft and had a sea turtle come up right along side a few times. The ship's photographers were out to take photos and we got some great ones with the ship behind us.

The island is gorgeous, the water is stunning and the people are wonderful. The tender trip was smooth and the staff was great. There is a little shopping area and they aren't pushy at all, but only take cash. Great drinks, although be mindful that even if you have a drink package, your prepaid gratuities don't apply on the island. Bring a couple dollars to tip your bartenders. We spent the day swimming and relaxing. There is a rocky strip to get past, but before and after it, the sand is great. Grab a chair and take it all in.

Very beautiful place as we were only ship there that day. Water clear & our favorite shade of blue. Zip line under construction when we were there. But will be cool when done.

11/24/18, tenders took us to the island. You have to go to deck 6, dazzles nightclub, to get your group ticket for the tender, then you can board when your number is called over the ships speaker system. The water was VERY choppy. If you did not hold onto a railing you would have fallen while walking to a seat on the tender. If it was worse on other days, then I understand why they didn’t take people to the island. I read some of the reviews about the other cruises not going to the private island and now I can say after going to the private island, sitting on the tender waiting to leave, that the water was quite horrible as far as the waves when boarding the tender. When we arrived at entrance to the island, their was a crew member on a microphone with a sound system, getting the arriving passengers excited and explaining some of the features of the island. The greeter even remembered my name since our last Norwegian Cruise!!!!

Not Norwegian's fault that it was raining the day we had this stop, but ugh, Great Stirrup Cay was beyond underwhelming. It felt just, grossly commercialized (and this is compared to my vague memories of Royal Caribbean's Coco Cay that I was on, like, a decade ago). The minute you got off the tender it was, "Here's ways to spend more money...rent a raft!" Like, we're ALREADY PAYING FOR THIS ENTIRE THING. JUST GIVE ME A DAMN FOAM FLOATIE TO USE IN THE OCEAN. So anyway, rain didn't help the cause. The beach chairs were relatively meh. The bathrooms were actually in decent condition. After our dip in the ocean our foursome commandeered an umbrella table and played dominos for a few hours. Oh, the buffet lunch that we finally indulged in on the island was amongst the best food we had the entire trip: the ribs were great, as was the jerk chicken. Complete surprise that this was a decent meal.
