Booked a private tour Not through RCCL. Ultimately it was all just fine. Bar Harbor was cute and Beals Lobster was delicious.

This is a great stop - the downtown is very quaint and walkable. We did the Acadian National Park carriage rides. I highly recommend this if you can book it. It was awesome and very informative. The downtown was really good for souvenir shopping - the best prices I have really ever seen on a cruise stop - except maybe Cozumel. If you look hard you can find Lobster Ice Cream - (it is actually good) Sweet and Salty.

We walked around down town because it was right by the port. Several people had said to eat at 59 Cottage restaurant and so we went there. You can walk from the port (we used GPS and got turned around a tad) and it was delicious. We were told to get their lobster roll and clam chowder. The BEST!!! I had a lobster roll at all of our stops (except Boston) and this one won hands down. I even went to the Down East Deli in Bar Harbor which was highly recommended (and it was good and real close to the port) but 59 Cottage was the best.

By far my favorite port of this trip! We took a small group excursion (14 people on a small bus) to see the highlights of Acadia National Park. They stopped on the summit of Cadillac Mountain, which had phenomenal 360 views, and at Thunder Hole. Our guide was extremely knowledgable, and was willing to make a few brief, unscheduled stops, which made it more comfortable and personal. I only wish the stops would have included Jordan Pond and the Jordan Pond House. The comfortable size of the bus and number of passengers would have made a slightly longer excursion to see these additional areas even better. The commercial area was pleasant, walkable, and had a nice variety of shops and restaurants. We had lunch at Galyn's on the recommendation of our excursion guide, and it was a charming old building, with a delicious lobster puff pastry with lobster cream. We also had time to see the tide recede and walk along the ocean floor to Bar Island. Such an interesting phenomenon, and happy to have been there at the right time! Unfortunately, our most wished for excursion here, Whale Watching, was canceled due to high winds/weather. But the beauty of the National Park and the charm of the town made this port a favorite!

Beautiful port. Amazing prices on lobster dinners. Off ship tour prices are great. A place I would love to come back to. The views from Cadillac Mountain was stunning.
